how ironical it is that nato can't even get along together and agree on a common strategy, and on the other side terrorists like bin laden can join forces with iraq to fight against us.

about 13 years ago, the warsaw pact fell apart with the dismantling of the soviet union.

Remember that Bin Laden has decided to side with the IRAQI PEOPLE and not Saddam Hussain. One thing that seperates NATO and the Arab world is religion... no matter how much Bin Laden thinks that Saddam has an 'apostate' regieme to him America's stance on Iraq is just another stance against Islam.

Nato doesnt have religion to bring each other together. The Arab world does, which is their secret weapon.

i hate this feeling .. i try and reason with myself thats its the life long programming that i have been through .. but the world events atm are really getting me nervous ... please people help me get past this :/edited by - m0nk3y on 12 february 2003 1:34:50.

Do not dread the time of the end.

Jesus taught us never to let our guard down regarding his presence, so the best way to be is always alert.

No need to be nervous though. Just accept our Lord Jesus as your saviour and do the things he asks of you and you will be ok. You dont need to be a Witness ; just do the maths ; do you really think that a loving creator will wipe out everybody who isnt a JW from the face of the earth? What about all the other real caring, loving people there are in the world today ? Do you think he'll destroy them just because they dont follow a bunch of tired dirty old men sitting around a table in Brooklyn who poke their noses into the lives of millions of people, even the most intimate details of their lives ?!?! I dont think so .

The JW's try to make the bible look stupid. They make use of the scripture ' This good news of the kingdom shall be preached in all the inhabited earth, and then the end will come ' ( Matthew 24:14 ) to try and scare people into thinking that If they dont listen to their message you will die at the coming battle of God.

If a witness does try this tactic on you , ask how the good news is being preached in India, or China where there is a very small ratio of Witnesses to actual people living in these countries. If we are so close because of the witnessing activity, God must really like the Indians or Chineese because he's going to have a lot living in his new society !

Dont live your life worrying about the end of days. Just live it how Jesus and his father ask of you. Its up to you to make it be, I guess I'll see you when you see me.

Tim LaHaye & 1914

i am reading a book titled: end-time visions, the road to armageddon.

in it the author (richard abanes) mentions tim lahaye, who i believe is the author of the left behind series of books.

interestingly, the end-times book shows how lahaye also looked to 1914 as the beginning of the "last generation" and eventually changed this "date" to a later date.

The opening chapters show many parallels between early thoughts of the bible students and other groups. The Idea of 1914 isnt unique to JW's, they simply stole it from somebody else.

hey guys,.

i'm sure this one has been done before, but what was your first "sin" after leaving jw.. i'm not necessarily talking about sleeping with a transvestite - or maybe that was it, :-).

the other day i was a movie theater and if i wanted to - i could have seen a rated r movie - (like the old george bush on saturday night live - scary!

i asked if anybody could show me quotes from the watchtower that state that jesus only acts as mediator towards the 144,000 .

Does anybody remember a while back I posted a topic concerning Jesus mediatorship ? I asked If anybody could show me quotes from the Watchtower that state that Jesus only acts as mediator towards the 144,000 .

Id just like to thank everybody that contributed to helping me find these quotes, they were very helpful as was http://quotes.jehovahswitnesses.com/.

After an elder finally decided to come visit me after at least 2 months of total inactivity, I discussed with him various issues and the issue of Jesus being mediator only for the 144,000.

When I confronted him on these issues, he stated that JW's follow the bible to the letter . He shown me 1 Timothy 2:5 , where it states that there is ONE mediator between men and God , Jesus Christ . I asked him about the societys stance on the matter , but he was adament that I had somehow misread the Societys publications , and that they have NEVER said that Jesus only acts in this role for the 144,000 ; because the scriptures state overwise.

The meeting went on for about 40 minutes , and I somehow managed to discuss with him the heavenly hope also. I could tell that he just thought that I was confused , and offered me a bible study ! Lets just say I politly turned him down.

After the meeting however , he asked me If I wanted him to return with some answers for the questions I had asked him . Regarding the heavenly hope , I quoted to him Mat 8:11 : 'And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven '

Amazingly , when I asked him about this verse , he looked at it puzzled like he had never seen it before , and then asked me where I had read it , adding that It is the kind of verse that an apostate would come out with . I then quoted his earlier words ... ' I thought JW's take everything from the bible to the letter '..

He then left with 2 questions from somebody who was supposadly 'weak in the faith' . As yet , I have heard no word from him about any of the issues I confronted him with . Perhaps he has read in the societys publications that Jesus acts only as mediator for the 144,000 ? ( *** Watchtower 1979 April 1 p.31 Questions from Readers *** , *** Watchtower 1991 February 15 pp.15-20 "You Were Bought With a Price" *** ) If that Is the case , then maybe the JW's dont take verything that the bible says to the letter !

Funnily enough , I was e mailing a Ministerial Servant yesterday who was acting as a 'mediator' between myself and this elder. In the e mail I asked him whether or not anybody was actually going to answer my questions !

Thanks again everybody for all of your help on this . Next post I'll tell you about the letter I recieved from this elder , and the subsequent visit I recieved from another elder I have known for a long time who was SO disgusted at the manner in which this letter was wrote that he took It to show It to somebody else !!
